Coloring your hair enhances your looks and confidence to carry yourself. If you are thinking about dying your hair, check out these basic hair color tips from choosing the right hair color to do-it-yourself hair coloring techniques.

Hair coloring tips -

Before coloring:
Wash your hair. A good kind of shampoo to use is one that removes the pollutants of your hair. Do not conditioning and do not use a shampoo/conditioner mixtures available in single bottle. Conditioner will interfere with the dye bonding to your hair.
If your scalp is soft and sensitive or your hair damaged or dry, wait about a day after washing to bleach or use permanent dye.

While coloring:
Follow the mixing instructions exactly as given.
Use protective gloves and an old towel, especially when you are new to hair coloring.
To keep the dye off your skin, you could put creamy gel like Vaseline around your hairline and it's better don't get it in your hair though, or it will unnecessarily bother your hair coloring process.

After coloring:
To make your coloring to last longer, rinse your hair in lemon based solution immediately after dyeing. This raises the strength of the hair color.
Another tip is to add two spoons of hair color to your regular conditioner after each shampoo. Leave it on three to five minutes and rinse it with warm water. This replenishes the color that was washed out.
Bleaching your hair roots is required after shampooing.

Summer Hair Care Tips -


Wear a scarf, hat or cap to protect your hair from the sun but make sure that it's not so tight that it will restrict circulation in your scalp.

If you know you are going to be in the sun for a long time and if you don't want to wear anything on your head, use a leave in conditioner with sunscreen in it before you go out.

If you are outside and forgot to put leave in conditioner with sunscreen in your hair, you can put regular sunscreen in your hair, but make sure you rinse it out with a deep cleansing shampoo when you get home.

Limit your use of "hot" items on your hair such as a blow dryers and curling irons.

If you need to use a "hot" item, use a leave in conditioner before using the item on your hair.

Avoid taking hot showers or washing your hair in hot water, use warm or cool water instead, the heat can dry out and/or damage your hair and skin.

Staying hydrated is important for healthy hair as well as your overall health, so make sure that you are taking enough water.

Avoid hair products with formaldehyde or alcohol in it which dry out hair, try to use natural products that are gentler on your hair.

Try washing your hair less often; shampooing your hair strips the moisture out of your hair.

Use a conditioner on your hair daily.

Take A vitamin diet to make eyes brighter. (papaya, eggs, fish, milk, cilanto etc.,)

Wash eyes with cold water to get sparkling eyes.

Put sliced cucumber over your eyes to treat dark circles.

Put potato slices on your eye to get rid off those dark circles.

Soak cotton in Luke warm milk and cover eyes with it for 15 min.

To soothe tired eyes, dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on closed eyes for 10 minutes. Now relax completely.

To completely relax the eyes and the surrounding muscles, close your eyes and think of something that is pleasant or soothing and at a distance. Now gently open your eyes and look into the distance. Next focus on an object at arm's length. Do this extremely relaxing exercise four or five times a day.

If your eye twitches, or your eyes are red and feeling itchy, massage your scalp with curd.

Soak 1 tsp. dry amla in one cup of water overnight. Next morning strain it through a muslin cloth and then add one extra cup of water. Splash your eyes with this solution each morning. This makes your eyes sparkle.

For Puffy Eyes: Grate a potato with its peel and apply on your closed eyelids for about 20 minutes and relax completely. You may even take a nap.


Wash your face before sleeping, and ensure that there is no make-up on your face before you sleep, because, make-up creams may spoil your face as it will be there for the whole night. It is better if no cream is applied. What I feel is, wash your face before sleeping and if at all you want to apply any cream, just apply night cream and none other than that.

Make sure you are getting sufficient sleep at night since your body regenerates while you are sleeping. If you are constantly letting your mind wonder make a conscious decision to put away thoughts till morning. It is amazing how good your subconscious mind listens to your conscious mind (so be careful what you tell yourself)


Do good... When you do something for someone else without expecting anything in return you benefit in ways unimaginable. (the key is don't expect anything in return)


Exchange... the money you spend on junk food for food that will enrich your body and soul. Start with a simple plan of exchange. Because some think healthy foods cost more, find out your spending pattern by making 2 lists:

- foods you like that are healthy that you normally don't buy

- foods you like that are "junk food" that you normally buy

calculate the cost of the 2nd list then use this amount to fund your "healthy" purchase. (of course you have to say bye-bye to the "junk food")


Stop and smell the roses... Look for good in everything. This is a toughie because most of us are "trained" to look for faults, errors, shortcomings, defects, etc. Begin with yourself. List all your assets (not just physical). Then realize all the good in being you. Move on to other things around you. Work on this consciously every day till it becomes a habit. There is something good about everything and everyone.

Once you realize this you will be finding good everywhere without even trying.

Learn... something new every day. Pick up a book. or search online. Learn to do something you have always wanted to do. You can even start for free by researching online. Search the subject and start stimulating and enriching your mind today.


Reward yourself... Set financial and personal goals and tag them with rewards for accomplishing them. (this one may be something special you have always wanted to do. and not necessarily a purchase.. But if you have done all the above maybe go ahead and splurge a little. You deserve it!
